What is the Inter-Embassies IT & Mobile Forum/ IEMF？
The Mobile Computing Promotion Consortium (MCPC) and the commercial sections of several foreign embassies in Japan have collaborated to organize the Inter-Embassies IT & Mobile Forum. (IEMF)
What is the MCPC?
The Consortium consists of all cell phone carriers (e.g. NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, Softbank, Willcom) and all handset manufacturers (e.g. Toshiba, Panasonic, NEC, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi) in Japan, as well as major systems integrators, such as CTC, and software developers, including Microsoft. The main goal of the MCPC is to promote mobile computing via wireless communication over PDAs, cell phones, and other wireless devices. The MCPC is particularly championing those aspects of wireless computing that move beyond voice communications and e-mail.
The goals of the Forum are as follows:
1. Introduce cutting-edge technologies from overseas to MCPC members through seminars and one-on-one meetings.
2. Supply information about Japanese policies, market updates, technology news about mobile computing to overseas governments and private sectors.
3. Network with Japanese and overseas government officials involved in mobile computing. (Embassies, MIC, MITI, JETRO, etc.)
Mr. Hajime Muto of NTT DoCoMo, head of the MCPC Promotion Committee, serves as chairman of the IEMF.
